Deep Cleansing

Today marks Day One of the cleansing of my insides. I've been pretty cruel to them lately as Bachelorette weekends in Vegas, weddings and my everyday diet have proved to show. After researching cleanses I found that most of them gross me out. So I have opted to create my own, which I know works because I tried it during a brief period time a few years back. Basically its just eating "cleanly" as my mom puts it (and how she thinks I should always eat, obviously she's never lived with Cameron and can't even begin to understand the sugar-coated, processed, artificial goodness he stocks in our kitchen). So this is how the cleanse works:

Breakfast: start with fruit (doesn't matter what, just can't come in a can or in the form of a fruit snack) and then oatmeal (the old fashioned kind, add blueberries) and green tea.
* side note: this morning the oatmeal was so bland I might have added the tiniest bit of brown sugar... that could be my one tiny twist

Snacking (the most important meals of the day): Stick to veggies and fruit- AND THATS IT

Lunch: Brown rice, I add s&p and throw in some vegetables, because plain brown rice is blah. Try not to add butter, try real real hard- because it will be hard to resist (just think of the pounds melting off you, haha). And of course, no dessert...

Snacking: more fruit, more veggies- I think you see where this is going...

Dinner: Go for protein and veggies (steamed is your best option here), if you're having carbs just have the smallest portion you can physically manage ( I crave carbs on an hourly basis, so my small portion is a normal person's whole day consumption). No dessert and NO ALCOHOL!

I will warn you this cleanse (although I now realize is probably just a healthy person's daily routine) will make you cranky and irritable (be sure to warn your boyfriend, fiance, husband, room-mate, life partner, what have you beforehand), but keep in mind it only needs to be done for a week. After the week I found that you actually want to eat better, because you see how awesome you look and you're proud of your new found will power. So you will continue to eat healthier with the addition of dessert here and there (or everywhere) and the necessary booze.

If you choose to par take in this good luck- if you don't you're going to be jealous of me on Friday when I'm looking like this:

no boys allowed

This week we received two beautiful wedding invitations. I showed them to Cameron and he insisted that I could make those same invitations myself. Considering I do not own a letterpress/engraving machine or a special laser jet printer, I do not see this happening. Talking wedding to Cameron is like trying to explain Calculus to a three year old. We ended the discussion when he told me a couple hundred dollars should cover the invitations. Lately I have been practicing biting my tongue and after he said that I almost bit my tongue off...... and that is also when I decided that he would have no more input on the subject.

I am becoming more and more enthralled with stationary every day. These are some I've been eyeballing.

Mission Accomplished

I did it. I finally found my dining room chairs. Not only did I find them but I bought them, and I actually haggled down the price for them. Obviously I am proud of myself, because haggling is not something that comes naturally for me. Found these babies on Craigslist, them moment I saw them I knew I had to have them. Sorry for the picture quality, I was so excited they came straight from my phone.

Ready For My Close Up...

I have a new obsession with wedding photographers. I am not a fan of the cheesy, so I refuse to be photographed in a swing, lying on a bed, in a carriage or anything of that nature. I am no expert photographer myself (I take pictures with a camera that I have dropped so many times I consider it a good night if it actually turns on) so I don't know any of the terminology or about lens' or lighting. But I do think I am good judge of beautiful photography, here are some shots from photographers that may be just lucky enough to take my picture.

check out this baby.... Smitten Photography
and a very Happy Valentines Day to everyone!

Shield Back Chairs

I found a set of six of these at Sleepy Poet last weekend. I walked away from them because they seemed too common and even after a makeover I wasn't sure if they would meet my expectations (which are high).

But then I saw this re-do on Eddie Ross' inspirational website and am now rethinking my decision.

An Open Letter to J.Crew

Dear J.Crew,

I am so glad you have turned yourself around and brought back the J.Crew I know and love. I can't wait to wear you all spring and summer. Now how about you show me some gratitude and send me my wish list.

XO, Cassidy

Let Them Eat Cake

Wowza.
These cakes are extra-ordinary. They will serve as good inspiration when I'm making my own.

Only kidding.
